Photo Mechanic
Culling through photos has never been faster. Zoom in and out to check focus on photos in a flash, two times faster than Lightroom. We pull our camera cards right into Photo Mechanic, tag the ones we want to edit, and then pull them into a Lightroom catalog for the magic to happen.

Lightroom
The ultimate photo editing software. Adobe knows what they are doing. Save time by applying the same edits to your whole photo catalog at one time with Lightroom’s magical synch button. Easy, intuitive, and organized.

MASTIN LABS Presets
Our favorite preset by Mastin Labs that we use on all of our photos is Fujicolor pushed. We love getting their weekly articles with helpful hints and tricks for photography and editing in Lightroom!

Software

Final Cut Pro X
This is currently my (Andrei’s) editing software of choice. The main reason is purely for speed and efficiency. That’s how FCPX was designed. I also love the magnetic timeline. I can crank out projects very quickly with it. If speed and efficiency are of the essence with your projects, I would highly recommend checking out FCPX.

Adobe Suite
The strength of Adobe’s products is how well they can integrate with one another. Within Premiere, you can open a clip to After Effects or Photoshop, edit it, and then when you save it, the clip automatically updates in your timeline in Premiere. That integration is super convenient and a major selling point for Premiere in my opinion.

Davinci Resolve
If you’re looking for the best FREE editing program, look no further because this is it! It’s completely jam-packed with anything you would ever need. You can edit your video, then do advanced visual effects, audio post-production, and color grading all in the same app! The fact that it’s free is crazy! It might seem overwhelming at first, but they have tons of free tutorials, so if you take some time to learn it, you’ll quickly become a pro.

Highland 2
When you’re planning a video, it’s always good to start with a script. Highland 2 is a clean and simple screenwriting program that you can download and use for free. We’ve used it for a few of our videos and have found it to be very simple, intuitive, and easy to use.

Genesis Technologies
If you work for a church that has a 501c3 status, you can get significant discounts on select software. We’ve used Genesis Technologies for many of our software purchases and have always had a great experience. If you work for a church, check it out, create an account, and get those discounts!
Audio Software

Audition
Adobe makes great products. Audition is a fully comprehensive audio editing program, able to do just about anything you’d want and is fairly easy to work with. It’s great for editing weekend messages and preparing them for posting. You can even pull videos into it and do audio mixing for your projects. This program has powerful capabilities. You can get the app either by itself or with the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.

Fairlight
Fairlight is a high end digital audio workstation that has been integrated into the Davinci Resolve software. It has an incredibly impressive set of features for doing post-production for videos. Just about everything you would ever need. The most impressive feature is that it’s absolutely FREE! It might look overwhelming at first, but there are many tutorials on how to get started. It’s hands down the most feature-rich audio program that you can get for FREE.

GarageBand
If you have a mac and you’re looking for something simple and free, GarageBand is a great place to start. Apple has designed it to be simple and intuitive. It’s limited in its features when it comes to videos, but for editing sermons, it can get the job done.

Audacity
If you’re a Windows user and you need something very simple and free, Audacity is a good option. It will give you the features you need to edit down sermon audio. It doesn’t have a lot of features, but it gets the job done.
Video Equipment – Our Gear

Music Licensing

YouTube Audio Library
When you create a Youtube account, you instantly get access to a massive FREE audio library! We would use a lot of songs from here for video announcements. You might have to sort through a lot to find one that fits well, but hey, it’s free!

AudioJungle
When I (Andrei) was starting out, I got most of my music here. The prices per song are the cheapest you can find. The really great songs are few and far between, so be prepared to spend a fair amount of time searching, but if you’re on a tight budget, it’s a great option.

Premium Beat
PremiumBeat makes licensing nice and simple by providing one flat rate per song ($49) and allowing you to use it on an unlimited amount of projects. They have a really great selection.
Bonus: They have a small selection of songs that are absolutely FREE!

Seeds
Church on the Move released a catalog of FREE resources full of content that they created for their church. They have a library of free music tracks that are high-quality and can work for a variety of videos. One thing to note, these resources are only available to churches.

Soundstripe
Subscriptions are very popular nowadays. There are a lot of options out there but we have found Soundstripe to be potentially the best bang for the buck. They offer a great selection of high-quality tracks. If you’re regularly creating videos, this is a very cost-effective option since you pay one flat fee for the year and then have access to unlimited tracks. We’ve had great success with using SoundStripe for many of my videos.

MusicBed
If money were no object, we would go with MusicBed every time. They only work with the best of the best. If you want to use music from the likes of Hillsong or Bethel Music, you can license them here! Not exactly budget-friendly, but you’re getting the best. We’ve primarily used MusicBed for the more important videos that we’ve done. We even just browse their selection just for inspiration, especially their cinematic pieces. Hands down, you can’t beat MusicBed’s quality.
Stock Video

Storyblocks Video
It’s a paid subscription that gives you access to thousands of royalty-free videos. We use this a lot! The variety of footage can really help give your videos more production value. $200 for a whole year and you get access to thousands of shots that potentially would’ve cost thousands of dollars to capture. They also have After Effects templates that you can use if you’re creating sermon opener videos.

Lightstock
If you need high-quality faith-focused video clips, Lightstock is the place. They have clips of Jesus, worship services, small groups, people praying, etc. They have a wide selection that would add a lot value to any video you create. When you sign up for a free account, you also receive a free video and photo each month!

Pond5
Pond5 has a wide variety of clips for a wide variety of prices. Many of their clips are very affordable. They also release a FREE clip every week! Now that’s a great deal! Make sure to subscribe to their email to be notified. They also release a lot of great articles about filmmaking.

Filmpac
High-quality stock footage that comes in packs around the same theme. It’s subscription-based and they even have non-profit pricing. You can also purchase one pack for $49, which isn’t bad considering you get a collection of high production quality clips around the same theme. If you do a free trial, you can get over 100 clips for FREE!

VideoHive
Some of the most affordable stock videos you can find! They also offer an affordable subscription that includes templates, stock videos, photos, and audio tracks. We’ve used several Videohive After Effects templates for sermon openers. They’re usually easy to work with and save you a ton of time! Typically you just drop in photos and videos into their designated slots and then you’re done.
Video Hosting

Youtube
Completely free and easy to work with. If you’re looking for a place to start uploading videos of your sermons, YouTube is the place to do it.

Vimeo
Vimeo Plus is an inexpensive solution that provides a cleaner player if you’re embedding it. You can completely customize what it will look like. Having an account would also give you access to Vimeo’s collection of 1,000 free stock videos.

Livestream
If you’re looking to start live streaming your services, Livestream is a great solution! They make it very easy with their app to get up and running in no time. It’s possibly the easiest and most cost-effective streaming solution that we’ve found. We’ve been using Livestream for years and have always had a good experience with it. Plus, if you get their Basic Plan, it comes with unlimited video storage! That is a super huge benefit.

The Artists Way
WOW. Hands down the best book on uncovering your creativity out there that we would HIGHLY recommend. We have purchased this book for so many of our friends because it has had such a profound impact on us personally. Looking to dive deeper in creativity and removing roadblocks that keep you from being free to create? It’s worth the purchase.

Born to Create
There is a connection between creativity, your identity, the Church, and the world—and it is an important connection. Creativity is tied to all believers’ identity, all who are made in the image of the Creator, all who are born to create! We love Theresa Dedmon, Creative Arts Director from Bethel Church in Redding, California. We highly recommend checking out all of her resources!

Create Supernaturally
This course was created by Theresa Dedmon, Creative Arts Director from Bethel Church in Redding, California. Series one is about discovering your supernatural creative potential, series two is about transforming church life through creativity, and series three is about building bridges into the community. Learn from Theresa in an easy to use online classroom setting.
Breakthrough
We read a section of this book every day. It’s filled with God’s heart for you and prayers and declarations around relationships, finances, church and ministry, business and career, mental and emotional health, restoration and redemption, among other focuses. If you find God’s promises hard to grab a hold of for yourself, saying a section of these declarations out loud every day just might change your life.
Atomic Habits
Want to start new habits but always feel like you’ve failed before you’ve even started? So did we. Until reading this book. James Clear profoundly lays out how you can start to make tiny changes in your life that produce remarkable results. We list to this one every. single. year.
Business Boutique
I (Kelly) absolutely LOVE Christy Wright and her Business Boutique book and podcast. In her book, she takes you through from start to finish how to build a plan to make money doing what you love. Her perspective is so refreshing and she is passionate about teaching women the basics and also the practicals of how they can have a great home and work-life balance. If you have an idea, or even if you don’t have an idea but want to start a business someday, this book will help guide the way.
Switch
One of the hardest things that we face is changing people’s opinions and perceptions. This book dives deep into how to effectively motivate change. It’s very engaging and provides a lot of simple and practical tools. If you need to motivate change in your organization or in the people around you, this book will help you tremendously.
Start With Why
Why do companies like Apple have such loyal customers? What makes people buy into an idea? Simon Sinek puts it simply, “People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it.” The most successful organizations and individuals define themselves by a central purpose for why they exist, and everything they do flows out of that purpose. The principles in this book will help bring greater clarity, definition, and purpose to your organization and individual life.
Leaders Eat Last
How is it that, regardless of the type of work, some people absolutely love their jobs? What actually motivates people and brings fulfillment to their lives? This book explores what the best organizations and leaders are doing right to build healthy and thriving teams that truly pull together. This is one of the best books on leadership that I have ever read.
The Road Back to You
By now you may have noticed that we are enneagram enthusiasts. We believe that creativity happens best when we know ourselves and those we’re working with on our teams. The Road Back to You is a stellar book for discovering what enneagram number you are, and how to best interact with and develop compassion for those who have different motivations than you.
Victorious Emotions
Victorious Emotions gives powerful, practical strategies to live out Romans 12:2, which says to be transformed by the renewing of the mind. This book is about renovating and reconstructing the pathways and strongholds of our thinking. It explores how our brains create certain belief systems and how to intentionally create new ones. The goal of this book is not to focus on eliminating negative emotions but to build a tidal wave of victorious emotions.
Keep Your Love On
Keep Your Love On reveals the higher, Jesus–focused standard defined by mature love―love that stays ‘on’ no matter what. Danny Silk’s practical examples and poignant stories will leave you with the power to draw healthy boundaries, communicate in love, and ultimately protect your connections so you can love against all odds. As a result, your relationships will be radically transformed for eternity. When you learn to keep your love on, you become like Jesus.
Podcasts

elevation church
We love getting inspired by Elevation Church. Every week we tune in to their service live on their app and always leave deeply impacted. We love getting ideas from their stage design, graphics, lighting, creatives videos, and more. Their Christmas Eve services are the BOMB.

Typology
Want to understand your creative team better? We love a good enneagram podcast, and this one just has to be one of our favorites. We have found that the more that we know and understand the people we work with, the better we will all work together. Compassion is the start of having a greater appreciation for those around you and the way that they think and process. The enneagram is one of the best tools for learning how to do that.
