Have you ever experienced a time in your life when you felt like giving up before you even began? Is there something new that you want to start but feel discouraged because you don’t know where to begin? Or maybe when you realize all that’s involved, it’s so overwhelming that you wonder if you should try at all?
We’ve all been there. We’ve all felt those familiar feelings. We know what it’s like to feel the gap that stands between where we are and where we want to be.
We remember those feelings of being newly hired staff members at a church in the creative department. We’d see incredible media coming from large and amazing churches all over the world that had countless creatives on their teams who were creating beautiful, effective, and engaging media. We remember feeling really discouraged because we had no clue how to bridge the gap from what little we knew to what they were producing.
If you’re new to Church Creative, let us start by saying that it’s our heart to inspire you to walk in the gifts and the talents that God has placed in your life and to equip you to create the media that you’re envisioning. We believe that as the body of Christ, we are “Better Together” and we want to help create a place where we all learn and grow together on this journey.
Zig Ziglar says it best, “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” If we had to choose one thing to encourage you in, it would be to have confidence in believing that you have what it takes. God has put dreams and passions inside of you for a reason. It’s not an accident, it’s how He purposefully designed you. We encourage you to take one step at a time. Give yourself grace. Invest in yourself as a creative leader. Invest by learning all you can from other creative professionals out there in your field, from books, from people around you. Do whatever you can to invest in learning and growing.
In our journey, we realized that we just needed to take it one step at a time. We invested the time to grow in whatever ways we could. We met with other church creatives. We watched hours of online training. We copied ideas from what other churches were doing. We experimented and took risks. We just kept trying, kept learning, and kept refining.
Anybody who has accomplished great things in life had to start from nothing. Nobody gets it right the first time, so just start where you are. If you’re stuck or unsure, just keep going. If you don’t give up, slowly but surely, you will bridge the gap.
Christy Wright, author of Business Boutique, wrote the following encouragement:
“You may feel like your gifts, talents, hobbies, and interests are just random and maybe even useless. But they are not. You’re wired this way for a reason. You were designed for success, and my friend, it’s time to unlock the potential that God put inside of you. The truth is, everyone gets scared. We have a tendency to think that super successful people aren’t scared and everything is effortless for them, but that’s simply not true. It’s not that they’ve never had fears; it’s just that they don’t let their fears hold them back. Starting something new is risky and uncomfortable. But the people who win in business and in life press on anyway. Once we realize that fear is normal, then we don’t have to wait until we aren’t scared to do the thing we want to do. We just do it scared.”
Let’s step out and let’s do this thing together. We’re with you and we’re for you! We’re here to encourage you and to help equip you with what you need to keep going in your journey. We believe in you! You’ve got this and you can do this!
